Here in Reno it’s easy to be concerned with losing your natural light when designing your patio cover… so, understandably, you choose to go with a lattice patio cover design instead of solid patio cover. And for the first few weeks of spring – you’re loving it. However, as summer approaches and the temperatures climb, you realize that your gorgeous light, is a little less enchanting than it was just a few weeks prior.
There’s a couple different ways we can solve this dilemma.
1.) Roman shades. Otherwise known as glide shades, under your lattice and attached to your rafters are one idea. They easily glide open and shut and let you choose whether you want to let in the additional light. The downside is, you’ll lose about 12-18” of your height. If your patio cover is already a bit on the low side, you may want to pass on this solution.
2.) Shade Panels seasonally installed over the top of your lattice tubes is a perfect choice for many. It literally laces up across your upper tubes nice and tight and can even add a nice splash of color if you so choose. (Beige/Tan covers look great with the crimson “terracotta” color option.) Of course you can pick any one of the 10+ colors that we offer.
